Community Tackle It Project Community Tackle It Project has been developed by CYDC with input from the local community who want to break the cycle of violence and gang culture. A key aspect of the project is to provide intensive support and accommodate young people, their families and the communities in which they live by engaging and building a positive, trusting relationship, identifying what barriers are present and providing support to overcome these whilst working towards a positive future for everyone.
Chapeltown Youth Development Centre (CYDC) has been awarded funding from the National Lottery to deliver a project for 8 to 19 year olds.
The Community Tackle It Project has been running for nearly 2 years and has made a substantial impact both in the local community and across the city of Leeds. The project has been developed by CYDC with input from the local community to de-glorify criminality and break the cycle of violence and gang culture.
Whilst the project runs city-wide its priority areas are Chapeltown, Meanwood, Little London and Harehills, which are amongst the most socially deprived in the UK and experience high levels of anti-social behaviour and gang culture.
The office hours of the Community Tackle It Project are 9:00am-3:00pm Monday-Friday. But our outreach workers are available until late afternoon. Contact us for more information.
